The panjabi — also spelled punjabi, and known elsewhere as a kurta — is the long tunic a Bangladeshi man reaches for when the occasion matters. VIOR makes it in two ranges, and the difference between them is not price but craft.

Two ranges, one silhouette

Every VIOR panjabi shares the same cut: long through the body, a band or straight collar that sits clean at the neck, a short buttoned placket, and side vents that let the garment move. What changes between the two ranges is how the cloth is decorated.

Platinum pieces are embroidered — thread work applied to the fabric, across the shoulders, down the placket, or around the collar band, depending on the piece. Luxury pieces carry their pattern in the weave itself, either as a tone-on-tone jacquard or as a clean solid with no ornament at all. Neither is a lesser version of the other; they are two different ways of dressing the same garment up.

Choosing between them

Embroidery reads from across a room, which makes Platinum the easier choice for a wedding, an engagement or an Eid morning where you want the garment to be noticed. A woven pattern reveals itself closer to, and catches light rather than holding it — Luxury suits Jummah, dinners, and the occasions where you would rather be well dressed than conspicuous.

If you are buying your first VIOR panjabi and are unsure, a solid or tone-on-tone piece is the one you will reach for most often across a year.

Fit and fabric

All pieces are cut to a regular fit and are true to size. The most reliable way to choose is to measure a panjabi you already own and wear comfortably: lay it flat, measure across the chest, and match that to the size chart on the product page. If you fall between two sizes, take the larger one.

Fabrics are lightweight and breathable, chosen for Dhaka's heat rather than for a photograph — a panjabi that looks right and is unwearable by the second hour of a programme is not worth owning.
