The thobe — also called a jubba — is a single floor-length robe worn on its own, without separate trousers. It is the more covering and more formal of the two garments VIOR makes.

Panjabi or thobe?

A panjabi ends around knee level and is worn over a pyjama or trouser, with a short buttoned placket at the front. A thobe is one continuous garment that falls to the ankle, buttons further down the chest, and needs nothing worn beneath it but a vest and trousers of your choosing.

Both are cut long and loose. The thobe is the fuller and more formal, and is what many men prefer for the masjid, for Jummah, and through Ramadan.

Collars and cut

VIOR thobes come with either a band collar, which sits close and clean at the neck, or a classic collar that lies flat like a shirt's. Some carry a contrast trim at the collar, placket and cuffs — a quiet detail that shows only when you look for it.

All are cut in a drape-weight fabric: heavier than a shirting so the garment hangs in a clean line rather than clinging, but still breathable enough for a humid evening.

Getting the length right

Because a thobe is worn to the ankle, length matters more than it does on a panjabi. Each product page lists the full garment length by size. Measure from your shoulder to where you want the hem to sit and match that number rather than guessing from your usual shirt size.
